Point, Click, See, Do in Web Conference Rooms

Several times a week, I am invited to conference calls where the moderator is “trying” to explain something that is in front of them, however, making that clear for the listeners, is seldom accomplished. They need a web conference room!

Providing verbal training and communication for listeners is great. Providing visuals to go along with the audio as is done in some web conference rooms is even better. This is currently being done through the use of displaying websites through a co-browser, or providing Power Point Presentations in the web conference rooms. At least they are using a
web conference room!

However, walking your viewer through the steps – in a web conference room – on a whiteboard – creates a major difference in their retention and usability of that information. The eye movement of the viewer is critical in keeping their attention and assisting them to learn.

Web Conference Room Excellance

Not all Web Conference Rooms are Equal!

While evaluating other conference rooms on the internet, and asking questions of other conference room owners, I'm amazed at the differences in features and quality.

Recently, while conducting an online training for a business associate, we were covering a project using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. She had skyped me the Excel file she was working with. After downloading and opening it to my desktop, I was able to bring it directly onto the whiteboard of my web conference room.

If you are fortunate to own a Vereconference room, here's how:

  • Have your spreadsheet open on your desktop
  • Click on the whiteboard tab
  • Click on the camera
  • Drag the finder tool on top of the spreadsheet
  • It loads onto your whiteboard where you can draw on the spreadsheet, and look at it together.

To change something on the document / spreadsheet, simply go back to your desktop, make the changes and now bring it onto your whiteboard again in the web conference room. This part works best if you:

  • Split your screen.... or resize your spreadsheet to cover only the right side of your screen
  • Resize the web conference room covering the left side fo your screen
  • Make the change on your speadsheet
  • Click on the camera in your web conference room
  • Slide the finder tool over to the spreadsheet again
  • and WALLA!!!! you have the changed cell or calculations right in the conference room
